Team Profile
About Poul Nielsen:
Let me thank you for taking the time to browse through our site and get to know the team.
I’m a certified personal trainer and fitness consultant. My interest in health and fitness began with a curiosity about the physiology of the body. I began studying biomechanics, muscle physiology and nutrition. It didn’t take long for me to realize that a lot of science, mathematics and intuition is required to design effective exercise and dietary programs. From there, I attended the Fitness and Lifestyle Management Program at George Brown College, and the rest, as they say, is history.
I’ve been a personal trainer for eight years and have loved every minute. I have worked with hundreds of people of every age and fitness level. When it comes to personal training, myself and the rest of the Nielsen Fitness team believe three things above all else:
1. Personal trainers are not just for the rich and famous - they are for real people like you.
2. A good workout is based on intelligent design and not on a fancy gym or expensive exercise equipment
3. Each workout should be different; variety will keep you challenged and motivated to see results.

I’d like to introduce you to the rest of the Nielsen Fitness trainers:
Endurance Specialist Dave Bateman. With more than 8 years of personal training experience, and dozens of endurance races, including marathons, and multi-sport races of various distances under his belt, Dave is a valuable addition to the Nielsen Fitness team.
Dave has a degree is psychology and a diploma in exercise science, and has experience with functional strength, injury management and sport specific conditioning. Though he has trained people at the elite level for the Boston marathon, and Ironman competitions, Dave gets just as excited about working with a beginner training for their first 5k.
Already, Dave is making a name for himself at Nielsen Fitness – here’s what one of his new clients has to say: “Hi Poul, we wanted to let you know that we were really impressed with Dave this morning. We spent the morning doing running routines, technique, stretching and more. He’s really knowledgeable and will be a huge help in helping us achieve our goals.”

Fat-loss Specialist Micheline is a 32 year-old fitness enthusiast. “The road that lead me to my career in fitness is not what I would call a typical one,” she says. “I was not a high-school or university athlete; I didn’t even start working out in the gym until I was 16 or 17. But once I set foot in the gym I knew that it would always be a part of my life and I was certified as a fitness trainer by the age of 18.”
Micheline studied at George Brown and earned her Fitness & Lifestyle Management Diploma. Following that in 2001 on a scholarship she attended the University of Ottawa and now has a Degree in Kinesiology and graduated Honours BSc.
Micheline has competed in figure physique competitions. “The experience gave me an entirely new respect for the human body and mind,” she says. “Many of the techniques I used and skills I gained during that journey I continue to use with my clients today with great success.”
Micheline’s interests outside the gym include reading, dancing, cooking and spending a lot of active time with family and friends.
Now that you know us a little better, we invite you hear what our past and current clients have to say.
