If you are outside of Toronto, or simply prefer meeting online, Virtual Personal Training is another option.

Our specialty is working with adults 50+ and those with special or unique needs (chronic pain or illness, injury rehab, etc.).  We also work with clients of all ages and fitness levels.

Your workouts and exercise programs will be fully customized, safe and – most importantly – highly effective. They’re also fun (most of the time!) and super rewarding.

Whether it is in your backyard or at the park, we are ready to work with you. All you need is a 5′ x 5′ area. And if you want to work with equipment, we’re happy to bring it.

Our clients often see – and feel – results within a few weeks. Nonetheless we work best with those who want more than a quick fix. We want to be your partner in health – to help you create a strong, balanced and functional body for the long-term.

One of the things that sets us apart from other personal training services is our unique process, which we’ve honed over the course of more than 15 years in business. Here’s an overview of how it works and what you can expect:

One of our managers (Poul, Andre or Audrey) will meet with you Virtually. We’ll ask you some questions, guide you through a physical assessment, and discuss both your goals and your options. If you’re a ‘yes’ right away, we’ll set you up with one of our fantastic trainers.

Detailed assessment and mini workout

One of our managers (Poul, Andre or Audrey) will meet with you in person, at your location. We’ll ask you some questions, do a physical assessment, and discuss both your goals and your options as it relates to service level and pricing/packages. If you’re a ‘yes’ right away, we’ll get you to fill out some onboarding forms at that time – and then set you up with one of our fantastic trainers. (There is absolutely no pressure to decide anything at this meeting, however!)

You'll start working with your trainer, but that's not the last you'll hear from our team of managers. Behind the scenes we collaborate closely with our trainers to ensure you’re on-track, making progress and avoiding plateaus. We’ll keep in touch with you to make sure you're happy and comfortable. And we are always reachable for questions, comments, or concerns.

Most clients are re-assessed on a quarterly basis. When the time comes, a manager will check in with you and guide you to measure your progress, and - no doubt - celebrate the results. During this virtual meeting, you'll revisit your goals and perhaps set new ones, and the cycle begins again.

We will keep you motivated, on-track and accountable – all you have to do is open your door and let us in. 

This is the beauty of in-home training… the answer is anywhere. We will come to the place that makes the most sense to you, whether that’s your home, office, condo gym, or even a local park (weather permitting). It doesn’t matter if you have a full gym or nothing but and exercise mat. All we need in order to give you a top notch workout is your commitment and a 6’x6′ area.

We also train a small handful of clients out of our private training studio in Leaside. Please contact us if you’re interested in this option.

Nope! All you need is a 5’ x 5’ space – that said, we’ll bring everything else you’ll need for great workout, each and every time. And if you do have equipment, we’ll absolutely make use of it!

Generally speaking each client has a primary trainer. Some – especially those who train often – also have a secondary trainer. You may also work with another member of our team if your trainer is ill or away, but you will always be notified (and given the option to simply skip the session if you prefer).

Absolutely – and it would be our pleasure. We will start slowly and gently with the goal of establishing a strong and safe foundation upon which to build strength and endurance. We will make sure that everything you attempt is safe and appropriate for the level you’re at, every step of the way.

Platinum is our premium personal training option. You will receive a first-class, second-to-none personal training experience. If you have a powerful and/or time-sensitive performance or weight loss goals, are competitive, over 55, pregnant, injured or recovering from an injury, or dealing with a chronic disease, then Platinum is for you.  

In addition to full one hour personal training sessions, with a Platinum package you get:

  • a copy of each and every workout you do with your trainer (all of which are developed just for you)
  • ongoing access to your trainer for support, dietary guidance, and to answer questions outside of your workouts. 

 

The Express option is for those without special needs. It’s 40 minutes (vs 1-hour Platinum), and does not include nutritional support and exercise programs for you to do on your own.

In response to prevent the spread of COVID-19 we are providing only Virtual Personal Training. 

Fortunately this solution has enabled our clients to continue exercising live and one-on-one with their trainer(s).

Secondly like a lot of people you need your workouts more than ever. And through our process your trainer will be with you live virtually to guide you through a customized plan which is efficient, effective and – most importantly – safe.

And know this – a good workout is based on effective design, not expensive exercise equipment. If you have a full gym, or nothing but an exercise mat, we can teach you how to use what you’ve got to achieve results.

No two workouts will be the same. With Nielsen Fitness you don’t have to worry about being bored. Our sessions will be dynamic and fun. You will be challenged within your means and expected to work for the goals you desire.

From your first session on-wards, we will ensure you are fully satisfied with your trainer and overall experience. Nielsen Fitness has the highest hiring and trainer development standards anywhere.

And if for any reason you are not fully satisfied, we will work with you to make it right.

A word on choosing a trainer: Unfortunately, personal training is not a regulated industry (in Canada and the World). Because of this, the level of education and training can vary widely from trainer to trainer.

A good trainer will set realistic goals and design a strategy to achieve specific objectives. Your trainer should have a good network of physiotherapists, chiropractors and massage therapists to call upon. And knowledge of medications, injuries, physical and metabolic disorders is essential.

So ask a lot of questions. Check past references and education. Personality is also very important – your trainer should be a good communicator who is approachable and available to you.

Athletic Therapy

Does your body ache? Then maybe Athletic Therapy will help. It's a method of physical rehabilitation that heals through movement. And is excellent for those with conditions such as tendinitis, muscle strains, ligament tears, back pain, joint inflammation, sciatica, and scoliosis. It is carried out by our Athletic Therapist, Oscar Caballero and can be booked on its own in conjunction with a workout. Ask us to learn more.

Plus Stretch

Who couldn’t use a good stretch? We offer stretching in 20 to 60 minute blocks, which can be booked on their own or added to any workout. Add a 20 minute segment to any workout for $30.
When done properly and for long enough, stretching has a ton of benefits, including increased muscle length, strength and mobility, and lubrication of the joints. Many of our clients have reported experiencing less pain and tension due to tightness, along with a faster recovery. Plus, it just feels really good.

Athletic Therapy
