NUTRITIOUS NUTS AND SEEDS
Helloooo September! I don’t know about you but, after a busy summer, I’m looking forward to getting back into a regular routine next week. For many of us, that means getting back on track nutritionally.
So today, I thought I’d share a Nielsen family favourite breakfast staple – which also makes for a hearty and nutritious snack. We use it as a cereal topper in the morning – it works great on cold cereal, oatmeal, and Greek yogurt – and have also been known to grab a handful to snack on here and there.
Here’s our recipe – but feel free to freestyle it and customize to your tastes. So long as you’re using raw nuts/seeds, anything goes!
{NIelsen’s} Nutritious Nut & Seed Mixture
No measuring! Toss together however much you like of the following (or the nuts/seeds/other things of your choice):
- Raw almonds
- Raw walnuts
- Raw sunflower seeds
- Raw pumpkin seeds
- Chia seeds
- Goji berries
- Raisins
Mix it all up in a big jar or ziploc bag – and you’re done. This is a far better choice than most trail mixes – which often include nuts roasted in oil – or granola, which is usually a sugar bomb. This is crunchy, just sweet enough, and totally satisfying. A great way to start the day – and fuel up for your workout.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
