- Define what you want to achieve (your ‘on the surface’ goal – like “fat loss”, or “increase flexibility”)
- Think about why it’s important to you
- Then think about why that’s important to you
- Repeat the process, peeling away layers, until you feel a bit of an ‘a-ha’ moment
This process can be uncomfortable – and sometimes takes time. But there’s a ‘why’ is inside all of us, waiting to be discovered. If yours isn’t immediately obvious, that’s ok. Think on it for a while; if you’re honest and you stick with it, you WILL get there – and it WILL pay off in the form of motivation, positive results and lasting change.
PS. This process can also be applied to other areas of your life – including career-related, personal development, and personal/family goals.
