You’ve probably heard that it takes 21 days to form a habit – but do you know how to set yourself up for success during those 21 days? Here are some tips to help you stay on track while you work to establish new healthy habits…
- Plan and schedule. Put your workouts in your calendar, lay your exercise clothes out the night before, and prep those healthy meals in advance. In other words, do everything you can to eliminate obstacles and reduce temptations (whether it be your warm bed or a drive-through dinner). Tip – if you hire us, we will help you schedule your workouts and keep you accountable. Plus not that we work with our training clients virtually, scheduling is easier then ever!
- Track your achievements. Just writing down those workouts, glasses of water, and changes in behaviour can go a long way, especially if you aren’t seeing physical results just yet. A notebook works fine, and so does our very own Habit Tracking Tool. And as you may have guessed, there’s an app for that. Winstreak and Success Log are two that we like. Winstreak is available on both the Apple and Android platforms, and Success Log is available on the Android platform. These are clean, simple apps that make it easy to record all of the things you are doing right. And if you are someone who likes to take a more detailed approach to writing their goals and want to take physical measurements, then we’ve created the perfect self assessment form for you. Once you complete it a confidential copy will be emailed to you.
- Don’t let set-backs stop you in your tracks. Set-backs are part of real life and unavoidable in the long-term, so don’t let little slip-ups be the death of a healthy habit. Focus on getting back on the horse, instead of beating yourself up for falling off.
