How We're Different

Personal Trainer Online
In-home fitness assessment Toronto

There are a lot of personal trainers out there, which may have you wondering: why Nielsen Fitness and not one of those other guys?

There are many things that set us apart from the competition, but the most important one has to do with standards.

Personal training is an unregulated industry, which means that just about anyone can take a weekend course and call themselves a Certified Personal Trainer (not good).

There is SO much more to personal training than you might think (or than the old ‘meathead’ stereotype would lead you to believe) – especially when dealing with unique or special needs and older adults.

A good trainer will have a strong understanding of injury prevention, biomechanics, and exercise physiology – and that’s what you’ll get with us.

The standards for our team are incredibly high. Our trainers come from varied backgrounds – some are kinesiologists, others are chiropractic students and some are athletic therapists.

The one thing they have in common is that they all know their stuff, inside out and backwards. They’ve all met our stringent criteria and passed our (difficult) practical exam. We trust them, and so should you. They’re the best in the business.

We are also very proud of our unique process, which has been fine-tuned over more than 15 years and is the reason our clients see such tremendous success.

Read on below to meet our team (not a meathead in the bunch!).

poul Nielsen fitness certification canada

Poul began his career as a personal trainer in 2000, after completing the Fitness and Lifestyle Management Program George Brown College. He started Nielsen Fitness in 2006 and the rest, as they say, is history. What was once a one-man show is now a thriving business with hundreds of clients and dozens of trainers.

Poul is focused on continuing education and is constantly working to expand and share his knowledge of both fitness and business. In addition to running his own personal training certification program, he also teaches at George Brown College.

Poul spent many years competing in strength athletics, including the Ontario Strongman circuit. Today he exercises for health and long-term sustainability by working out regularly with his Nielsen Fitness personal trainer (even trainers need a trainer!)

In his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar and spending time with his young family. He takes every opportunity he can to get outside – whether that means kayaking at the cottage or riding his bike in the city.
