​What started off as a Valentine’s gift to each other 6.5 years ago has turned into a new – and much healthier – lifestyle for Marjut and Greg. We recently caught up with Greg to give us the low down on his experience with Nielsen Fitness and how it’s changed their lives for the better.

Client Spotlight: Greg and Marjut

1. What motivated you to pursue personal training? What led you to call us?

It really boiled down to our self esteem, we didn’t like the way we looked or felt.  We had tried on our own to work out and eat well but we just couldn’t sustain that lifestyle on our own. It started off as a Valentine’s gift to each other; Nielsen Fitness had been recommended by a friend, and 6.5 years later here we are!

2. What do you like about working with Nielsen Fitness?

The number one thing for us is accountability – the door bell rings and we’ve got nowhere to hide!  Our trainer has been amazing, she tailors our workouts specifically for each of us, and they are always a good challenge.  She knows what we are capable of and is always aware and empathetic when we are not feeling 100%.  We have an excellent rapport with her which has made our experience with Nielsen Fitness delightful.

3. What do you enjoy the most about semi-private workouts?

In the beginning, we were a bit too self-conscious to go to a big gym.  We wanted to exercise together but didn’t know how to make it effective and enjoyable.  Having a trainer come to us has allowed us to achieve that – we get to spend time together doing something we both enjoy.  Our trainer has been very accommodating in working with our schedules, making sure we can find a time that works for both of us, even if that changes week by week.  And the adaptability has been great, with workout plans that are modified for our time at the cottage.

4. What changes have you noticed?

We both have more energy which is the first thing we noticed.  Our body composition has changed quite a bit, but also our mindset around fitness and well-being. We are more positive and truly enjoy leading a healthy lifestyle.

4. Speaking of changes, what’s been a major milestone/success for you?

My body fat percentage has dropped from 37% down to 14%. I have more symmetry between my left and right side and overall knowledge that I’m stronger and fitter than I was before.

5. Any advice for people on the fence about getting back in shape?

Do it for yourself because it is important to you – not because of what others are saying or doing.  And don’t be afraid or discouraged – everyone starts somewhere but you’ll never know what you can accomplish until you try.

6. What excites you most about the future and your health and fitness goals?

Well, I’m way healthier than I was 6.5 years ago but the continual progress is motivating. I look forward to seeing what I can lift 1, 2, and 5 years in the future – I can already do way more than I ever thought possible! Fitness and well-being are now important aspects of my life, and I can’t imagine a future without them!
